Lindsey Stirling releases new single 'Underground'

Publish date: 2024-07-12

Critically acclaimed electric violinist Lindsey Stirling is back with her striking new single ‘Underground’, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the multi-talented artist.

The track is taken from Lindsey’s highly anticipated fifth studio album Artemis, which will be released on September 6. The album is set to tell the story of Artemis, Goddess of the Moon, with the violinist drawing parallels to her own life experiences to showcase themes including overcoming obstacles and fighting through difficulties to reclaim one’s happiness and strength.

The first track to be released is ‘Underground’, which has been accompanied by a stunning music video set in a futuristic world. At the beginning, Lindsey is seen playing the violin whilst being tied to restraints. However, as Artmeis appears amongst the moon, Lindsey discovers the strength to break free. The visual is both powerful and intense, and highlights the importance of perseverance whilst being the perfect first release from Lindsey’s new body of work.

Speaking about the concept for Artemis in a press release, Lindsey said: “One of the best examples of perseverance is the moon. Time and time again she gets covered in shadow and if one didn’t know better, it would sometimes seem as though she ceased to exist.  There have been times of my life where I have felt completely overcome by the “shadow” of grief, or depression; I felt like I’d never feel full happiness again.  But the moon has taught me a powerful lesson. Just because she gets covered in shadow doesn’t mean she isn’t still there… and that she won’t fight back to reclaim her full light. Artemis is the goddess of the moon. This album tells her story; it tells my story; I think it tells everyone’s story.”
