His father was a white American who served in the United States Air Force and met his mother, a Filipina, in the Philippines. His parents divorced when he was 13, and his mother raised him and his three siblings independently.
He grew up in Spanaway and Tacoma, where he attended Spanaway Lake High School and Foss High School. He moved to Las Vegas with his family after graduating from high school to be near his grandmother, who was ill.
